1:18 Diecast Dodge Charger Daytona Review

Here we have a 1:18 Candy Apple Red 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona made by Ertl.
It is 1 of 500 produced.
Released in 2005

This is a pretty cool model and I think the candy apple paint really sets it off nicely. The hood and doors open with dog legs and the wheels turn but unfortunately the trunk is fixed. The scale and proportions are right on. All the parts fit tight to the body and the lines are great except for the nose cone which is a little off of the body line. The paint is awesome, not only is the color really cool but the body paint is flawless. The nose cone color is not a perfect match and appears to be plastic. I have seen pictures of the real car and the nose cone color doesn't seem to match the body on those either. The overall appearance of the model is very good and true to the real thing. The exhaust and suspension is ok and nothing to boast about and the engine compartment is decent with some painted detailing and wires. The interior is all plastic with some painted details and isn't bad. The body detailing is pretty good and I think they did a decent job of it. The rubber tires have a good tread pattern and the plastic wheels look to represent the stock wheels quite well. My only complaint here is the way they fasten the wheel to the suspension (which is typical Ertl). They slightly buckle under the weight of the model and need to be straitened once you set it down.

Overall I think it is a good piece and I would give it a 7.2 out of 10 rating
(10 being the best)
